Fun New Years DIY Project That Will Last The Whole Year long

The new year is quickly creeping up on us and I’m sure many of you will be making resolutions. Along with those resolutions, why not create a way to motivate yourself and  keep yourself encouraged to stay focused? Drum roll please! I bring to you an accomplishments jar:

Here's how mine turned out!

Here’s how mine turned out!

All throughout the year when something good happens to you, whether it be you land the job, shed some time off your run, or even silly things like you try a new food for the first time… write it down on a piece of paper and slip it inside the jar! The best part, on New Year’s day open up the jar and look back on all the things that you’ve accomplished over the previous year. That’s the part I’m most excited about, come January 1, of 2013 I will be reading all about my 2012 🙂 It’s a nice way to ring in a new year, feeling good about yourself! It’s also fun if you share the jar with someone, a significant other, a best friend, family. Then each time one of you puts an accomplishment in the jar, you can share the joy of it with someone else 🙂 It’s kind of cheesy, but I’m into cheesy.

I got my jar from Target for about $8, the rest was a pack of scrapbook stickers, glue, a little burlap to tie the tag I made on the jar top,  and my own handy work with some colored pencils. A simple and very inexpensive way to remember all the positivity in your life throughout the year.

Thoughts??

Do you have any New Year’s traditions?

Do you make resolutions each year?
